SPRING MILL NEWS

We are in the middle of fungus season…and this year seems to be especially bad!  Please be sure to keep a few helpful things on hand.  Betadine or iodine added to antibacterial shampoo will help to kill off fungus.  Be careful not to get your horse/pony’s skin too dry by over bathing with the betadine or iodine.  Latex gloves are nice to have, as you will need to pick off the scabby fungus as it dries up!  Finally, MTG is great to apply after bathing.  Remember, you can spread the fungus to other horses by sharing pads, girths and brushes that have been used on horses with fungus!  If you have any questions or concerns, please see Lindy.

SMF SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

This month’s sportsmanship award goes to Nathan Feler.  Nathan constantly has a smile on his face.  He is very hard working and willing to ride any horse in the barn…just so he can ride!  We appreciate his wit and work ethic and are thrilled to have him a part of SMF!  Congratulations Nathan!

Congrats to the Feler family on the purchase of Mr. Big!  If you haven’t seen him yet, his name fits him well!  I know Nathan is anxious to get into the jumper ring with his new mount.  Nathan also said goodbye to Deuce, who went off to Texas with his new family.  Dee has a new one also, Brown Derby, A.K.A. Derby!  David Becker’s horse Reggie has moved to Spring Mill permanently.  Welcome to you both!  We also welcome back Margaret Mirro and More Than Able, A.K.A. Abel!

Remember if you are planning on attending the Tunica shows, make sure your horse or pony has a fly sheet.  The mosquitoes can be vicious there so a fly sheet is a must!

Congrats to all of our Devon exhibitors.  What a thrill to attend such a prestigious show!
