SPRING MILL NEWS

A new supplement is on the market that targets EPM.  As many of you may already know, EPM is very prevalent in our  part  of the country.  It is carried by both skunks and opossums, which over-populate our area.  This supplement is poured on the feed, and is guaranteed to keep horses from getting EPM.  If a horse has been on this supplement for at least 90 days, and shows signs of EPM, the manufacturer will pay $800.00 to have your horse treated.  The cost if this supplement is about $1.00 per day.  If you have any interest in starting your horse on this, please see Lindy for ordering information.

AS THE WHEEL TURNS….THE HAMSTER”S CORNER

By Caroline Milot

Biltmore was a very successful show for all of our Spring Mill exhibitors.  Tracy Treace made her debut in the baby green and low jumper rings on Westie.  Caroline Gillen and her brand new mount, Ozzie, proudly made their debut in the children’s ring.  Opie, The Bus, and Oscar were all Grand Prix stars, results to follow.  Hayley Barnhill had her new horse Epic , A.K.A. Duncan, in the big grass ring and he was wonderful.  Our junior riders, Cameron on Graphic, Alyson on Kenny, and Hayley on Toby and Duncan, were wonderful.  Our Spring Mill representatives in the A/O (Mary Haley and Woody and Dee and George) and adult rings (Kelly Maxwell and Buzzy, Caroline and Lucas, Judy and Surprise and Linda on Little Guy) all put in some great trips adding ribbons to our banner!  Dee’s baby, Derby, was a star in his pre-green debut as well as Brittney Rhea’s horse Tellus and Kelly Maxwell’s horse Buzzy all helped put  ribbons up on our Spring Mill banner from the tough pre-green division.  Sheila Wickman’s mare Muchacha kept up her winning ways in the non-thoroughbred and special hunter divisions, lots of blues and tri-colors for that girl!  Mary Katherine and Cody wowed them in the jumper ring, and then after week two went off to Young Riders in Lexington, Virginia with Andy in tow, best of luck and congratulations!  Hayley Barnhill also competed in the jumper ring on Violet, she was one busy jockey!  Week one Lindsey Belz and Castle joined us in the medium pony division, and as usual were fantastic and Sarah Steele and her mare Sephora, A.K.A. Cates, showed in the children’s ring as well and kept up our Spring Mill winning ways!  A HUGE THANK YOU to Nathan Feler for all his hard work those two weeks, he worked like a champ.  A big congrats to all!

I have enclosed a copy of the standing lessons that I have scheduled throughout the balance of 2007.  Please see if these times and days are still appropriate, and if not, let me know so I can make the necessary changes.  Remember, if you are unable to make your standing lesson time, let me know so I can cancel you, which will prevent you from being charged for a lesson that did not happen.
