AS THE
WHEEL TURNS… THE HAMSTER’S CORNER
By
Caroline Milot
Congratulations to
Maura Smith on her purchase of Lizzie Aycock’s Drafi. Lizzie is off
to college in the fall and Drafi needed a new home, so this is
perfect! Also, Sarah Steele made her jumper debut at the Springtime
in Dixie horse show aboard “Southern Style”, A.K.A. Sissy, and they
were G-R-E-A-T! Mary Kathryn also was aboard a new jumper, “Charlie
Valentino” and they too were wonderful! Barney Mallace and “Aventura”,
owned by Peggy Jones, joined the jumper crew at Springtime in Dixie
and made everyone proud! It was fun to have our Providence Hill
Farm people with us at these Springtime shows too: Susie and Sport,
Ethel Ann and Zorro, Kathy Watters on Coconut Grove, and Anne
Hormel’s Yipes! Some of our Aintree Farm Kids joined us at the two
Springtime shows too! A good introduction to the “AA” show scene!
Keep up the good work! Meredith Abernathy took Grant up to the
shows for some schooling and to get used to the horse show scene.
We also want to welcome GiGi, Chara Short’s baby who is going to
keep Kathryn Pritchard busy!
Don’t forget
to get those credit card letters filled out and returned to me no
later
than April 30th! We are requiring all customers to
keep a current credit card number on
file with the
Spring Mill Farm office.
If you have any questions, give me a call.
With the horse show
season upon us fast and furious, don’t forget to double check your
standing lessons during horse show weeks. Generally, Katie is able
to teach the Tuesday of local shows, but that is not cast in stone,
so do call and check. Also, the Tuesday AFTER the shows,
no lessons
for those that
showed, as
both the horse/pony
and rider need a break!
Spring Mil Farm is
going to host Hospitality Night at the Harvest Time show in
November. I know this is a long way off, but start thinking about a
nice “theme/menu”. We need everyone’s help so all you mothers, form
a committee and get a plan and let me know who is doing what! Last
year, Jody Becker got it all pulled together and she did a fantastic
job! Please let Lindy or myself know who will help pull it all
together this year, and then we can relax until it gets closer to
actual “party time”!
SPRING
MILL NEWS
On April 26, Lindy
attended and Equine Seminar organized and sponsored by Sr. Stephen
Galloway, our equine dentist. Topics included dentistry, shock wave
therapy, acupuncture, ulcers, and new treatments for sports
injuries. Guest speakers were local vets, as well as a specialist
from Lexington, Kentucky. The information shared will aid in
providing the best, most comprehensive care for your equines.
Please
welcome Matt Piccolo to the Spring Mill staff! Matt will be
starting on May 15th. Matt is currently a senior at the
University of Findlay with a double major in Equine Business
Management and English Equestrian Studies. Over the last 4 years,
Matt has been riding, competing, teaching and working at various
barns. He has also been riding on Findlay’s Equestrian Team. Matt
will be riding, training, and teaching at Spring Mill. Please make
him feel welcome and introduce yourselves!
