HORSE SHOW RESULTS

Congrats to Leah and Allie who had two weeks of successful horse shows in St Louis in January!  Bongo was reserve champion the first week and champion the second in the Older Small Juniors. Leah also got great ribbons in the equitation with Tory and was very competitive in the junior jumpers with Jay Jay. Cooper and Allie competed in the Younger Small Juniors, and they were reserve champion the second week. Congratulations to Allie Efird on her success with her first 3’6” catch ride on Contender, owned by Sabina Holtzman and trained by Micaela Kennedy.  Good job ladies!

Spring Mill Farm was well represented at the WTHJA Banquet in January! Lots of year end champions in the group, we are so proud of all of our competitors! Woody and Mary Haley were champion in the Younger AOs, Maura and Drafi were champion in the 3’3 Amatures. Congrats to both the Efird Girls, Tory and Zotti were champion in the Large Juniors and Aly and Cooper were champion in the Smalls. Sarah Clifton and Zorro were Champion in the Small Ponies as well. In the short stirrup hunters, Grace Upshaw was champion in the older section and Elizabeth McKee was champion in the younger section!

In the Equitation, Hayley Barnhill won the Christie Connors Memorial Trophy award for equitation! Congrats Hayley, that’s fantastic! Sarah Clifton won the 11 and under fences, while Elizabeth McKee won both younger short stirrup sections of equitation.  Haley Dutch won the older short stirrup flat and Grace Upshaw won the older short stirrup over fences. Very good job to all!!! You have represented Spring Mill Farm as a winning force in 2009!

Congratulations to Hayley Barnhill, who made the Emerging Athletes Finals held in Reno, Nevada in early January!

AS THE WHEEL TURNS…THE HAMSTER’S CORNER

By Caroline Milot

We welcome back Sara Stephens’ horse Land Shark, A.K.A. Elmo.  Now Sara’s plate is really full with 3 horses!

Congratulations to the Joyner Family on their purchase of Ramsey!  Way to go Emily, Gulfport is your debut!

We also want to welcome back Manrin and Elizabeth Rains’ second horse Herzgraf, A.K.A. Graf!  He will be joining his “brother” Pappy for all five weeks in Gulfport!

Hayley Barnhill and her three horses Eddie, BC and Duncan have trekked down to Wellington, Florida until Gulfport where Hayley will be a working student.  Best of luck!

For all Gulfport exhibitors, make sure I have copies of your 2010 USEF/USHJA membership cards and copies of recording certificates/membership cards. It can get chilly down in Gulfport, so make sure your horse or pony has his/her show sheet and show blanket ready to ship with them.  If your show attire is not monogrammed, make sure they are clearly labeled with your name on the inside.  The initial load of horses will ship on Sunday, February 7th (Super Bowl Sunday!) so please have everything packed and ready to go by mid day Saturday, February 6th!

We are looking forward to kicking off a great show year locally starting in April.  Our new show manager, John McQueen promises to make this year an outstanding one with new fun exhibitor parties, the Hunter Derby, and many other exciting changes to the shows.  Let’s all get involved and help to make our shows something everyone wants to attend!

Just a reminder to have checks waiting for the venders working on your horse!  That includes farriers, chiropractors and the dentist!  The vets will bill you directly.  If we expect prompt service when we have a horse in need….they expect prompt payment!
