HORSE SHOW
RESULTS
December brought
us a well deserved break from showing! January will start us back
into the show ring – then on to Gulfport in February!
Speaking of
horse shows…Did you know that Gulfport entry fees and stall fees are
remaining the same as they were in 2008? Also, prize money in the
jumper division has increased. The children’s and adult jumpers
will have prize money this year and no nomination fee, their
classics increased to $2500.00, and junior jumpers classes have been
restructured and prize money increased. Each week there will be a
$15,000.00 High JR/AO Jumper Classic. The A/O 3’3” Hunter division
will have the same prize money as the 3’6” division. The adult age
groups have been changed to 18 – 35, 36 – 49, and over 50. Prize
money in the hunters will be distributed through 8th
place. Week 4 will be the “Celebration of Hunters” and will host a
USHJA International Hunter Derby as well as a new USHJA Hunter
Classic. Be sure to check the prize list because weeks one and six
will have different schedules from the rest of the circuit.
With all of
these great changes, stalls will be booking up fast so get your
travel plans figured out early!

GULFPORT ALERT,
GULFPORT ALERT! Now is the time to start planning your winter
circuit horse show plans. Spring Mill will be attending weeks I – V
in Gulfport this year. That’s 2/10 – 3/14/10. So look at your
schedules and make your plans, we should be getting the prize list
pretty soon. AS IN YEARS PAST, THE CLASSIC COMPANY DOES NOT
PUT FEED OR BEDDING ON YOUR SHOW BILL, SO BRING AN OPEN CHECK WHEN
YOU DROP OFF YOUR ENTRIES AND I WILL PUT IT IN THE FEED AND BEDDING
ENVELOPE! Also, they request a pre-paid stall check be
attached to each week’s entry along with an open entry check. They
also will take credit card info – just remember you must bring your
card to the office to be swiped when you check out at the end of
each week!
A new, updated
version of the official “HORSE SHOW MANUAL” is at the printers, and
will be ready for distribution at the first of the New Year. This
is a handy, pocket sized pamphlet that has ALL the
information/questions answered one would possibly need or ask when
preparing to horse show on the “A & AA” circuit! This will come in
handy to our newer exhibitors and for our veteran exhibitors too!
Keep it in your
show trunk or in your car or horse show bag so you can get to it at
a moments notice when confusion strikes!
Hope everyone’s
holiday was merry and all the best in 2010!
BARN NEWS
Congratulations
to Grace Upshaw on her purchase of Blue Grass! Grace has made the
move up from ponies to horses and the pair will be preparing for
their debut in the show ring!
Welcome back
Manrin and Elizabeth Rains! Pappy, their adorable chestnut warm
blood, is stabled with Spring Mill now. Hopefully Graf will be
making the move too! We are glad to have them back at our barn!
Ramazotti has
been leased for the next year! He will be living the pampered life
– in West Palm for the winter! Tori will be riding with us until
she leaves for UT Martin, where she was given a full riding
scholarship!
Zorro has been
re-leased by Sarah Clifton! The pair has another year to rack up
the ribbons in the Pony Division!
Congratulations
to the Barnhills on the purchase of Eddie! Eddie and Hayley make a
great team and surely we will see them winning big in the jumper
ring!
Please help us
welcome Alex and her mom Kathryn Woodson. They recently moved here
from Maine, and Alex is horse shopping and gearing up for the Spring
Time shows.
We have
started the annual sheath cleaning process! In the past we
scheduled this through Barney and have billed for it on your monthly
board bill. Barney was unable to do this, so we scheduled it
through your vet. Your vet will bill you directly for this. If you
have any questions, you can ask Lindy, Caroline, or your vet. |
