AS THE WHEEL TURNS…THE HAMSTER’S CORNER

By Caroline Milot

Congrats to our Devon Competitors. Leah Curtiss and Cabana Boy were 7th in a Small Junior class and 4th in the Small Junior Handy class! Allie Efird and Cooper were very respectable with scores in the 70’s in all the younger Small Juniors. Caroline Gillen and Ultaire pulled in an 11th in the Junior Jumpers Gamblers Choice. Haley Barnhill had a Devon of a lifetime earning a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th in the equitation and tied for the Ronnie Mutch Eq. Championship. She was 3rd, 8th, 5th on Duncan in the older Small Juniors and Champion on Red Panda w/ three 2nds.

We survived the HOT, HUMID Germantown Charity Horse Show. Mother Nature sure likes to make life tough on us! It was a very successful show and our large group pulled in all sorts of ribbons. Eli was a smash hit Friday evening in his solo demonstration, I think that was a first for the Charity! Hey, it is an all breed show, so now the draft horse is in the mix!

These hazy days of summer are hard on man and beast alike. Be careful when riding and stay hydrated and let your horse take lots of walk breaks! If you notice that your horse is not sweating very well, please let Maggie, Amy, Caroline or Erica know so we can address this very important health issue.
